It is called faint dusk ceremony in the ancient periods in China as it usually holds the ceremony at the dusk.
With regard to the content of the wedding, it has been converting throughout each dynasty and mainly base on three letters and six rites. There was a difference between nobles and folks.

　　 (1)Going on a blind date
　　 When the children were under the age of adult, their parents were in charge of arranging the blind dates with matchmakers. Once the two families were in favor with each other, they would go on a blind date in their houses and look around the house. If the child who attended a blind date ate the egg and thin noodles, the marriage was a deal. The both sides will discuss the conditions of betrothal cash, dowry, gift and so on.

　　 (2)A judgment on birthdate characters used in fortune-telling
　　 The matchmaker would take both birth dates to fortuneteller to judge good or bad luck.

　　 (3) Betrothal determination
　　 After the both sides reached an agreement about the conditions, the groom side selected an auspicious day and sent golden ring, accessories, part of betrothal cash, candies and cigarettes to the home of the bride. It meant that the daughter had decided to marry him if the parents accepted the presents and distributed the gifts to their relatives and neighbor.

　　 (4)Date selection
　　 The groom wrote down the decisive date on an invitation and started to order customs with a tailor shops on an auspicious date.

　　 (5)Seeing off celebration for marriage
　　 When the daughter was going to entry into marriage, the relatives of the bride would present one lot of clothes or daily utensils for celebration, which was called “seeing off celebration for marriage” commonly. After the bride received the gifts, the bride should give her.

　　 (6)Urging the marriage
　　 The groom should send a determined presents and quantity as conclusion to the home of the bride on the date two days earlier to the date of marriage. The wedding trays were limited within 8 pieces.

　　 (7)Fetching the bride
　　 One day prior to the marriage date, both groom and bride would fast and take a bath before a religious observance. The bride did skin care by Chinese facial thread (use thin rope to remove the fine hair on the face), makeup and tied up with a high bun on her hair. On the other hand, the groom would cut his hair, shave the mustard, and wear a formal hat with a circle of red thread and two red rose as well as wear a long gown.

　　 In the morning of the marriage date, the groom should ride on red sedan chair or bridal sedan chair, followed with a band of orchestra to go to the home of bride.

　　 (8)Performing formal bows to each other.
　　 When the bridal sedan arrived in the front of the home of groom, other members of the groom family should escape except for the groom. The firewood in the kitchen range should be put out, which means “no temper when the bride entry into the door, the family escape from the demon.” Everyone would get along with each other later on. After the bride got off the sedan, the matchmaker and two children lead her to the hall and the groom and bride performed formal bows to each other.

　　 (9)Getting out of hall
　　 After greeting to the parents of the groom, the bride was leaded by the groom and matchmaker to the bridal chamber. After the groom stirred up the wedding veiling of the bride by a fan, and the bride took off the veil. She would dress up and decorated with golden and silver accessories with a red flower. Then by the company of the matchmaker, the bride walked out of the hall and made greeting to everyone in hall.

　　 After the greeting, the matchmaker will lead the groom and groom and bride to meet the relatives and came back to the bridal chamber and then took rest.


　　 (10)Disturbing bridal chamber
　　 On the first night of marriage, the relatives of groom and bride came to the bridal chamber to play games and made fun of the groom and bride. It aims at avoiding demon in ancient periods, however, it have been developed to be a mess up nowadays.

　　 (11)Visiting paternal home
　　 In the family with reputation, the groom would accompany with the bride to sit the green sedan chair to go back to paternal home of the wife with the band of drum with flags at noon of the third date after marriage, which was called as “returning sedan” commonly. In the time of dusk, the new couple needed to go back the home of husband.
